Five years in business
On 1 July 2022, Camus Consulting marked five years in business.
I wasn’t sure, when I started the business back in 2017, whether my business would be successful. I couldn’t be sure that there was a gap in the market in crofting legal services for somebody who had the knowledge and experience of a specialist crofting solicitor, but who was not currently practising as a solicitor. I wasn’t sure if the structure of the business would work or if I could be competitive enough in securing new work and new clients.
It turned out that was (and is) a demand for the services I offer, but at the time it was a leap into the unknown.
Camus Consulting is an integral part of the legal services market in Scotland. I have a reputation for being able to deal constructively and imaginatively with complex and contentious crofting law problems (as well as the more run of the mill matters), and I travel extensively across the Crofting Counties to meet with clients and assess problems ‘on the ground’. I love my work and I am proud to be making a difference.
I decided that after five years in business it was a good time to refresh my branding and website; the last one having been set up at short notice in a matter of days. Over the last few months I have had the pleasure of working with 3 independent Highland businesses on the website, all of whom have blown me away with their professionalism and attention to detail:-
Amber King at Branding by Amber has created beautiful branding for the business, which I am blown away by. I am in awe of her creativity!
Rachel Murray at Rachel Murray Photography showed impressive attention to detail on our Brand Photoshoot (and endless patience when my dogs and ponies refused to cooperate!). I am delighted with the finished photographs.
Finally, Kirsty Montgomery at Kirsty M Design has pulled everything together to create a website that is beautiful to look at, has much improved functionality, and happily is very easy to maintain thanks to her tutorial videos. Her focus has kept me focussed!
To Amber, Rachel and Kirsty a huge THANK YOU for their work. They are each doing a fabulous job and the world needs more businesses like theirs.
I have some articles in the pipeline (one covering complex croft registrations and how to avoid rectifications and challenges, one on what is the difference between a croft house and a house, and one on crofting law reform again, sorry…) but for now, thank you for reading and thanks for your support!
